Howard & Co, Boston, Series VII, split-plate model, 17J, N-S (just over 19S), heavy 14K gold EH&Co original HC with spectacular floral and vermicelli engraving detail, case additionally marked with "MF&Co." marking for retailer Marshall Field & Co., front shield with initials, gold cuvette, glazed observation cover over mvt, white enamel DS dial with fancy Arabic hour numerals in radial orientation, umbrella style hands, SW-SS, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#228019. Gross weight of assembled watch 96.8 dwt (150.7 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some abrasions and fine scratches to barrel bridge, some typical micro-fine scratches to other plates; dial with outer chapter hl near 1, some edge flakes under bezel near 1, small edge flake under bezel near 9; nearly mint hands; case shows hardly any wear, no dents or dings, superb engraving detail, underneath the glazed observation cover there are some circular marks to the case lip near the pendant position but we do not interpret these as likely being witness marks of another mvt's case screw; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystals.
